Porto is already the club in the world with the most penalties in favor since January 2020. Taremi’s kick from the penalty mark against Boavista gave him an isolated advantage in the table recently published by CIES – Observatório do Futebol.
In a study that looked at 75 world leagues between January 2020 and April 1, 2023, Costa Rica’s Herediano led the way with 44 maximum penalties. At that time, Porto were in fourth place with 41 penalties.
After April 1, the blue and white already had five more throws from 11 meters, and Herediano from that period and still had the maximum penalty in favor. The table is followed by Hajduk Split from Croatia (44), Zamalek from Egypt (44) and Fenerbahce from Turkey (43), a team coached by Jorge Jesus.
