A local resident of the Vietnamese Linh Truong commune built a one-story house with 15 tons of bombs and shells, which were used in 1975 during fighting between North and South Vietnamese troops, as well as the US Army. USA, Gio Linh district, Vnexpress reports on April 30.
“The 200m2 house with 16 load-bearing columns was built entirely from shells and bombs used during the Quang Tri war. The total number of shells is about 300, with a total weight of 15 tons.says the message.
The most massive bomb is the American AN M66A2 bomb. Its body alone weighs more than 380 kg, and its diameter is 60 cm, with a length of 2.35 m along with the tail section. All the shells were carefully selected by local resident Tran Kong Chuk. He welded the shells of the bombs together to form pillars, which were erected with cranes.
“Quang Chi has many famous monuments related to the nation’s history. Wanting his descendants to better understand history, to know how destructive bombs and bullets are, why cherish a peaceful life, he collected military relics for 20 years, including shells to build a house.– explains Chuck’s act in the post.
Inside a house on Truong Son street, a man created a museum. He hung many photographs and placed war relics. The total amount spent on collecting souvenirs and building the house was almost 1 billion dong (~$42,000).
The publication recalls that during the war against the United States, the Truong Son highway or the Ho Chi Minh route was a strategic logistics route to support the southern front. It went from North Vietnam through Laos and Cambodia to South Vietnam. Knowing the importance of the road, the United States attacked it with the most modern weapons of the time.
Let us remember that in the winter of 2023, a recreated committee of the Communist Party, which operated during the war with the United States, was inaugurated in Vietnam, being in the jungle.
