The Union of Prosecutors on Tuesday urged the Minister of Justice to suspend the new rules for the electronic distribution of court files and start hearings urgently in order to avoid serious consequences for the functioning of the system.
The magistrates are criticizing Regulation No. 86/2023 of 27 March, which regulates the control of the electronic distribution of cases, after last week the Allied Association of Portuguese Judges (ASJP) also defended the suspension of the validity of his diploma, arguing that it should be corrected in several paragraphs.
The position of the SMMP was conveyed in a communiqué reporting on a letter sent to the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebel de Sousa and to the Minister himself, Catarina Sarmento y Castro, as well as to parliamentary groups.
