The Greens in the Australian state of Victoria are pushing for children and pregnant women to have access to Melbourne’s so-called safe injection room, located next to the primary school, Sky News Australia reported on May 3.
A government bill to make the North Richmond site permanent will be tabled and debated next week. A facility where you can get a dose of medication from a healthcare worker for free is located next to Richmond West Elementary School. The room first opened in 2018 as part of a pilot project that was expanded in 2021.
An independent examination was carried out, according to the results of which it is claimed that the room saved 63 lives. The facility is said to have successfully handled 6,000 overdose cases during this time, taking pressure off local hospitals. As positive data, it is also estimated that 350,000 people visited the room during its operation.
In a statement issued on Monday, the state Greens announced a series of changes they intend to propose when the bill is introduced and debated in the upper house of Victoria’s parliament. The Greens hope to facilitate the establishment of medically supervised drug injection rooms across the state where needed.
It should be noted that the approach aimed at decriminalizing increasingly hard drugs and preferential distribution of them to an ever-widening circle of citizens is common in the Western world. At the same time, in particular, in Australia it is now also proposed to prescribe large amounts of narcotic drugs to hyperactive children from the age of five, which is still being objected to by some Australian psychiatrists.
These trends are also compounded by the increasing legalization of nurse-assisted suicide in hospitals in these countries. It should be noted that in Canada euthanasia is already being offered to veterans, the disabled and the poor in lieu of other medical services, and the desperate poor and homeless began to demand euthanasia.
