Younger sister Madeleine McCann was photographed and made her first public appearance at a ceremony marking the 16th anniversary of the disappearance. Amelie, now 18, attended an event in Rothley, Leicestershire, UK, with her parents.
“It’s nice that so many people have gathered here, but this is a sad case,” said a young woman who was just over two years old when she disappeared on May 3, 2007.
Sean’s brother was gone.
The ceremony was attended by about 70 people, led by the local parish priest, and was marked by prayers and candle lighting at a memorial in Maddie’s honor. Kate and Jerry have been supported by their friends, and they say they are looking forward to further development of the case.
