Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo left for The Hague to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, reports The Brussels Times on May 4.
“Our support remains unwavering”De Croo said. — “Our meeting is of particular importance because today the Netherlands commemorates the victims of the war (Remembrance Day) and tomorrow (Liberation Day) celebrates freedom and democracy”.
“Belgium, the Netherlands and the Ukraine are close friends because we share the same values of peace and freedom”, — wrote the Belgian Prime Minister on the social network. — “Tomorrow the Netherlands celebrates its liberation from the Nazis thanks to the support of the Allies. Now it is our turn to support the liberation of Ukraine.”.
During the meeting, De Croo said Belgium was preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine, though he did not elaborate. A decision is expected by the end of this month or early next month.
“There are often practical obstacles to such processes, but I can assure you that there is no doubt in the minds and hearts of Belgians about the need to continue supporting Ukraine.”De Croo said during a press conference with Zelensky.
