Bringing in recruits for the fleet with the help of a transvestite blogger has drawn the ire of 14 Republican senators, the Daily Caller reported May 4.
Referring to a letter from the senators to US Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro, it is reported to have been written by Republican politicians, including Ted Cruz (Texas) and Tom Cotton (Arkansas), Ted Budd (Carolina del North), Steve Danes (Montana), Eric Schmitt (Missouri), Tommy Tuberville (Alabama), Cynthia Lummis (Wyoming), John Barrasso (Wyoming), Rick Scott (Wyoming).
Senators have protested the fleet’s move involving drag queen Harpy Daniels (Petty Officer 2nd Class Joshua Kelly) to participate in a pilot recruitment program via popular social media platforms.
“Will the Navy hire burlesque or exotic dancers to attract potential recruits? Such activities are not suitable for advancement in the professional workplace or in the US military.”the senators write.
The letter states that the need for broad coverage of the population with propaganda for recruitment into the Navy does not justify the promotion of information that “many Americans find it unacceptable“.
Recall that in November 2022, on social media, Joshua Kelly announced that the Navy had invited him to become the first “Navy Digital Ambassador“. The digital ambassador initiative that Kelly participated in ran from October 2022 to March 2023 and was “Designed to explore the digital environment to reach a wide range of potential candidates“.
