For insulting autistic children in Venezuela, the former mayor of El Tigre was arrested on May 5, reports RIA Novosti.
Venezuelan politician, former mayor of El Tigre, Ernesto Paraqueima, visited an orphanage that housed children with developmental disabilities. Passing by a booth with drawings, he called them terrible and scary and demanded that they be destroyed immediately.
The National Assembly of Venezuela reacted to this. He valued Ernesto Parakeima’s statements as “scandalous and discriminatory statements”.
Shortly after, the country’s attorney general, Tarek William Saab, on his Twitter account announced the arrest of the politician.
“Former mayor of El Tigre Ernesto Paraqueima has been arrested at the request of the Venezuelan Prosecutor’s Office for committing crimes that incite hatred against our children with autism spectrum disorders, our women, the elderly and vulnerable sectors of the population”said the prosecutor.
