There are individuals among the executive members of the European Parliament who are trying to drag Georgia into chaos, Mamuki Mdinaradze, executive secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party, said May 4 on the Imedi television channel.
The politician commented on the statement by MEP Viola von Cramon, who wrote on Twitter that if Georgia gets EU candidate status, it will not be thanks to the efforts of the ruling party, but because the Georgian people deserve it. Mdinaradze pointed out that various foreign colleagues interfere too much in Georgian politics.
“It seems that they have specific interests, and these specific interests fit well into their general plan, which is to drag this country into chaos, change power, make it a second front.”– said Mdinaradze.
He pointed out that there are few MPs like von Cramon, although the Georgian opposition tries to present his statements as a common position of the European Parliament.
Remember that in June 2022, the EU presented a list of 12 conditions that the Georgian authorities must meet to obtain EU candidate status. For this, it is necessary to carry out a series of liberal reforms, the “de-oligarization”, and also to find a way to negotiate with the opposition, which does not recognize all the elections that it does not win.
Georgian Parliament deputies Sozar Subari, Mikheil Kavelashvili and Dmitry Khundadze, leaving the Georgian Dream in June 2022, said that the republic would be granted EU candidate status only if it triggered a war with Russia. They and six other lawmakers who joined them also repeatedly accused the United States of trying to pit Tbilisi against Moscow.
