He described as immoral and illegal the decision of the United States government to transfer the Venezuelan state company Citgo to the property of the Venezuelan opposition Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), on May. reports TeleSUR.
US authorities have issued a decision to expropriate a subsidiary of the Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA.
The joint statement of the Alliance countries indicated that the decision of the US Department of the Treasury is a continuation of the policy of restrictive measures imposed by Washington to threaten the people and sovereignty of Venezuela. The ALBA Alliance expressed its support for all the actions of the Venezuelan government aimed at preserving and protecting its assets abroad. The alliance also called on the international community to demand the lifting of US sanctions on Venezuela.
Remember, according to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, Citgo’s market value is estimated at $13 billion. “What the United States government is doing is unprecedented”said President Nicolás Maduro, recalling that the Citgo Oil Corporation is the country’s main asset abroad and that this asset belongs to all Venezuelans, not to “a handful of political parties.”
Let us remember that the members of the ALBA Alliance are 10 Latin American countries, including Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua and Grenada.
