Mozambique is ready to assume the role of mediator in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. This was stated by the president of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, on May 5, according to the Lusa news agency.
Filipe Nyusi called for an end to the conflict and expressed Maputo’s willingness to assume a role aimed at peacefully resolving the war in Eastern Europe.
According to him, “there are no small countries” when it comes to supporting solutions that can help end the war.
The President of Mozambique expressed his solidarity with the civilian population suffering as a result of the hostilities. “We, Mozambique, leave our message of solidarity with the innocent affected population”– he said.
It should be noted that Mozambique’s president earlier said that Russia’s efforts to avoid unnecessary casualties in the conflict with Ukraine are the path to peace.
