Inflation in 2022 could be 2.2% lower if companies raised prices only to the level necessary due to rising costs, according to a study by Rabobank, the NL Times reported on May 5.
The bank said companies are secretly inflating prices more than necessary during the crisis to boost profits, but there may be other reasons.
In 2022, the profits of companies in the Netherlands increased significantly, according to a study. The net profit of the companies amounted to EUR 238 billion (20 trillion rubles) in 2022, compared to EUR 213 billion (18 trillion rubles) in 2021 and EUR 201 billion (17 trillion rubles) in 2019 before of the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
“Last year, the net operating surplus relative to the size of the economy as a whole reached its highest level since 2008.”Rabobank economists said.
