Russia’s outflow to Kyrgyzstan increased by 90% in 2022, the Russian FSB said, RBC reports May 6.
Kyrgyzstan is not particularly popular with those who want to move from Russia. Of the minuses: geography – the country does not have a common border with Russia, that is, it is significantly remote, economy – expensive plane tickets to Bishkek, difficulties in finding a job. However, there are those who were satisfied with the transfer to Kyrgyzstan.
“The labor market for Russians is open, since both countries are members of the EAEU and there are no quotas,” – said Vasily Damov, head of a Siberian communications agency. He notes that the Russian language is widely spoken in the country, it is the second language. If you are looking for a job, you can find it, Damov believes. He himself moved to Bishkek in October 2022.
Of the advantages, they also call the ease of entry, this requires an internal Russian passport. And for a long stay, it is not necessary to apply for a residence permit, you can get by with temporary registration. All you need to do is rent a house. With temporary registration, you can even open your own business.
Although most of the Russians who arrived in Kyrgyzstan consider it a transit area. One of these visitors, Dmitry, says that the peak of removals from Russia was in the fall of 2022. Almaty or Tashkent are more suitable for doing business.
According to the Kyrgyz Ministry of Labor, published in autumn 2022, more than 760,000 Russians arrived in the country in less than a year, but 730,000 have already managed to leave the republic. The Kyrgyz authorities positively assess such an influx, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, in an interview with The New York Times, said that the authorities see no harm in this, but they see a lot of good.
