In connection with the shelling of a school in Shebekino, Belgorod Region, by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the celebration of the last bell, graduation parties and the solemn awarding of certificates were canceled in person, on May 6 , the governor of the region. Vyacheslav Gladkov announced this.
He offered to help parents organize these activities at a safe distance from the border. Gladkov stressed that, despite the outrage of parents, the life and safety of children take precedence over education. The decision to hold events in person or in absentia will be made by parents, children and teachers.
Recall that as a result of the shelling in Shebekino, a shopping center and a school building were damaged, where at the time of the shelling there were no children. One person was injured and was hospitalized in serious condition.
Previously, the authorities of the region refused to hold a regional prom for schoolchildren in Belgorod in 2023 and provided an opportunity to receive a certificate based on the results of current academic performance without passing the OGE to graduates of the 9th grade. Grade 11 students were given the right to choose between passing the Unified State Exam in subjects required for admission to a university or entering based on entrance exams.
