Businessman Alberto Dionisio Ribeiro Gomes da Silva, owner of Couto SA and nephew of the creator of Pasta Medicinal Couto, died this Sunday at the age of 85, said the Couto Foundation, of which he is a founder.

In 1974, after the death of his uncle, Alberto Dionisio Gómez da Silva took over the company, also responsible for products such as Restaurador Olex.

In 2012, Alberto Dionisio Gomes da Silva put forward the intention to sell the company to Luce by 2017, but the history of the century-old Portuguese brand was overshadowed by a wedding.

Alberto and Alexandra Matos, the business manager, tied the knot and the company remained in the hands of the Couto family, which gave new impetus to the expansion of the business and resulted in a 20% increase in sales per year, as reported by administrator Luce in 2019.

The growth in sales, which in 2018 reached a turnover of one million euros, was due to investments in the creation of new cosmetic products with a “retro design”, as well as tourism, as the commercial director explained at the time.
