A vegan Australian family asked their neighbor to close the window when they were cooking meat because they were ‘nauseous and upset’.
“Hi neighbor, could you please close the side window while you are cooking? My family is vegan (we only eat plant-based food) and the smell of the meat you cook makes us sick and anxious. Thanks for your feedback. understanding. Thank you Sarah, Wayne and the kids,” reads a family note posted by a neighbor on social media.
The handwritten request was delivered in an envelope with the words “Please take this seriously.”
The post has since garnered hundreds of comments arguing over who was wrong. Some felt that the family had gone too far. “This is what it means to have rights,” said one reader.
Others advocate a family approach. Why so many nasty comments? I eat meat, but she was polite and respectful in her request, and closing the window is not difficult.”
