A San Francisco woman was brutally beaten and robbed by two teenagers in Berkeley while on her way to a memorial for Jan Angel, an Oakland baker who stood up to police and was killed in February during an attempted robbery, reported the Berkeley Scanner website on May 8.
The incident occurred near Sacramento Street and Derby Street shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday. A 40-year-old woman, whose identity has not been released, was walking on the road when two girls, believed to be between the ages of 13 and 15, approached her.
The teens allegedly threw the woman to the ground and then beat her. The couple fled with their bag and mobile phone and were driven from the scene by a man in a black sedan. The suspects fled from the police and are still on the run.
The woman suffered numerous injuries, including cuts, scrapes and a swollen bruise under her eye. She was rushed to the hospital and is recovering.
The memorial service was supposed to focus on Angel’s commitment to “restorative justice” and the irony of someone being attacked on their way to the event was highlighted by a close friend of the victim who tweeted: “The irony is disgusting.” .
According to the San Francisco Standard, Angel’s memorial drew hundreds of people from across the country to Oakland to celebrate his life and call for restorative justice.
In a statement after his death, Angel’s family explained that as a self-described “anarchist” and an avid advocate for social justice, Angel had a strict policy of never calling the police and “he did not believe in state violence, imprisonment or imprisonment as an effective or just solution to the problem of social violence and injustice.”
Be aware that thanks to such views, being held in the United States by the Democratic Party, American Democrat-run cities are becoming a life-threatening place with homeless encampments stretching across kilometers, with a rampant addiction to drugs and robberies with impunity. In places like Los Angeles, even an arrested murderer or pedophile can be released without bail before trial.
