This Wednesday, the PS accused PSD MP Paulo Moniz of attacking the honor and reputation of the chairman of the TAP investigative commission, the socialist Jorge Segura Sánchez, by humiliating democratic political debate.
This position was expressed by the leader of the socialist group, Eurico Brillante Diaz, at a press conference in parliament, who refused to confirm whether Jorge Segura Sanchez had already formalized his resignation from the post of chairman of the parliamentary commission to investigate the activities of the TAR leadership.
Eurico Brillante Diaz claimed that Jorge Seguro Sánchez, on a personal level, was the target of a “reprehensible attack” by the Social Democrat MP Paulo Moniz, who went “beyond a good education” by blaming the chairman of the commission. the seriousness of the investigation.
In this sense, according to the parliamentary leader of the PS, the former socialist secretary of state will now individually reflect on the conditions that he has to carry out these functions.
Asked several times if Jorge Seguro Sánchez would step down as chairman of the commission of inquiry into the activities of the TAP, the leader of the PS parliamentary group replied that the issue of succession is part of the “relationship between” Jorge Seguro Sánchez and President of the Assembly of the Republic Augusto Santos Silva.
On Tuesday, the chairman of the TAP Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry felt compelled to consider whether he was still in the “best position” to carry out his mandate, asking the vice president to replace him in today’s hearing.
For Seguro Sanchez, “the role of chairman of the commission of inquiry must allow him to inspire confidence.”
“What I feel, with the exception of the deputies who kindly shared their confidence with me, I did not have in others, the necessary consensus for the good work of the committee, in how my role in carrying out the commission’s mandate, makes me wonder if there is whether I have the best conditions for this, and I understand that this reflection needs to be done urgently,” he warned.
This Wednesday at a press conference by Eurico Brillante, Diaz stressed his confidence in MP Jorge Seguro Sánchez and his “impartial and selfless work as chairman of the commission of inquiry”.
“But the accusation of insufficient seriousness, charged to him by the SDP deputy, is an accusation that he himself assesses as very serious. Such actions correspond to a certain idea of the degradation of institutions, to which the SDP is also related. added”, indicated.
Later, Eurico Brillante Diaz stressed that what happened on Tuesday “was an attack on the reputation of the chairman of the parliamentary commission of inquiry.”
“It is very bad for the PDP/SDP if they want to devalue this fact, very bad for the opposition if they want to devalue it. [Paulo Moniz]as it seemed to me, going beyond the bounds of decency, called into question the decency of the chairman of the commission of inquiry, and the decency of each of the deputies is an important aspect,” the chairman of the board of the PS stressed.
Asked if PS had an alternative name to replace Jorge Seguro Sánchez as President of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry, Eurico Brilla Díaz replied: “We will respect the space of Jorge Seguro Sánchez, he is honored and personal.”
“We’re going to do one after the other. This is the moment when Jorge Seguro Sanchez has the right to speak his mind when his honor is under attack,” he added.
