A 47-year-old man died this Thursday in a collision between three vehicles, a truck, a motorcycle and a car, on an additional route 1 (IC1) in the municipality of Urique, Beja district, a GNR source said.
The same source told the Lusa news agency that the driver and only passenger of the motorcycle died, and the death was pronounced on the spot.
The accident occurred at ICI, at km 681.9 in the Portela do Lobo area, a GNR source said.
According to a source from the Baixo Alentejo Sub-Regional Directorate of Emergency and Civil Defense, the alert was issued at 6:50 p.m., adding that seven people were still on the scene to be assisted.
Rescue operations have involved firefighters from Urique, the National Institute of Emergency Medicine (INEM) and GNR with 24 operators supported by 11 vehicles, including an emergency life support vehicle (IVS) from Castro Verde and a helicopter from INEM that has never been used.
