India will return thousands of precious artifacts taken by the British Empire, the country’s government is launching a corresponding diplomatic campaign, writes the Telegraph on May 13, citing its own sources.
“Indian diplomatic and ministerial staff will be involved in securing the return of potentially thousands of artifacts brought to Britain during the empire.”indicated in the message.
The newspaper noted that for London this could be the biggest claim the country has ever faced. Among the most valuable relics that New Delhi wants to return is the Kohinoor diamond, which is one of the most famous gems in the world.
According to sources, the London lawsuit could start as soon as this year.
Recall that in May, Egypt returned to the country four ancient artifacts that were illegally brought to Italy.
