Indian grandmaster Leon Luc Mendonca became the winner of the international chess tournament in Baku (Azerbaijan) on May 12, the tournament results are published on the specialized chess results server chess-results.com.
After the results of nine rounds, three chess players scored 7 points out of 9 each, ranking first in additional indicators: Leon Luc Mendonka (India, FIDE rating 2603), second place, Aleksandar Indzhic (Serbia, 2618), third place – Vladislav Kovalev (Belarus, 2612).
Remember, the international chess tournament in Baku was held from May 4 to 12 as part of the Baku Open 2023 festival, dedicated to the centenary of Heydar Aliyev. The tournament was held according to the Swiss system in 9 rounds with classical time control. The total prize fund of the festival is $55,000 (4.25 million rubles).
