Israel and Palestine reached a peace agreement in Gaza this Saturday.
Israel and the Gaza militant groups have agreed to an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire beginning at 2200 local time (2000 GMT), Reuters reported, citing two Palestinian officials.
“Both sides will respect the ceasefire, which includes cessation of attacks on civilians, demolition of homes, and cessation of attacks on individuals immediately after the ceasefire comes into force,” the text reads.
Islamic Jihad confirmed that a truce had been reached. “We declare our agreement with the statement of Egypt and we will abide by it as long as the occupation (Israel) will comply with it,” said group spokesman Daoud Shehab.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other officials are yet to comment.
At least 10 civilians, including women and children, were killed in Gaza during the fighting, and two people, an Israeli woman and a Palestinian worker, were killed by Palestinian rocket fire in Israel.
