A homeless couple, a 47-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman, Gertrudes Costa, died in a fire that broke out this Sunday morning in a building that had been empty for several years, in Cruz de Pau, Seixal.
This is the former Novo Dia Day School on 25 April Street, next to the Matos López Pharmacy. The first floor of the building was engulfed in flames.
The fire alarm was received at 6:04. Firefighters from Amora, PSP and the Seixal Municipal Civil Protection Service were on site, with a total of 14 operators and seven vehicles.
Around 6:30 the fire was extinguished.
The PSP is at the scene and the judicial police have already been called.
