A speedboat used to transport drugs was found this Monday charred on the Odelite Creek in Castro Marim.
In accordance with cm Discovered, around 5:00 am GNR Coastal Control team was alerted. When he arrived on the scene, he found the ship on fire and drug-free, with few fuel and completely destroyed in an area that was navigable only at high tide.
The Maritime Police and Vila Real de Santo António firefighters were later called in and prevented the flames from spreading to a patch of bush near Foz da Ribeira de Odelite. The ship burned to the ground.
Judicial police arrived at the scene to collect traces and, as it became known to the CM, they are investigating whether the boat unloaded drugs on the spot, or the ship was launched to load hashish on the high seas.
The GNR is investigating.
