Jake Gyllenhaal, Don Hall, Gabrielle Union, Dennis Quaid, Jabuki Young-White, Quy Nguyen and Roy Conley answered our questions about the release of the 61st Disney animated film.
Don, it was planned from the beginning that Strange world on the topic of “generation gap” or did you just want to tell “pulp fiction”?
Don Hall: Fantasy Pulp Fiction came later. It all started with me thinking, “What would my kids want to see? What world would my children like to immerse themselves in? But since I’m a big fan of adventure films, of course now it’s a dream come true. Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of my favorite films.
Roy, your job as a producer is to find the right team to make this film. Are you happy with your choice?
Roy Conley: Yes, definitely. I have never seen actors put so much into a story. Jake, Dennis, Gabriel and Jabuki have all contributed to making this film as unique as it is today.

Jake, what drew you to your Searcher Clade character?
Jake Gyllenhaal: When Don first told me about the film, I realized that the story was based on his personal experience. And that’s what made me participate here, because it was very personal. I was also allowed to add my own experience to my character. The character of Searcher Clade has evolved over time, and that’s what intrigued me the most.
Dennis, you’re already with Jake. Day after tomorrow worked together. Are there any parallels or differences between the two films?
Dennis Quaid: Actually there is a big difference. On record too Strange world Jake and I were in the same room at the same time for the first time. in Day after tomorrow We didn’t really have scenes together. However, I played his father in both films. But here he is looking for me, and then I was looking for him.
Jabuki, why is your character an important addition to the Disney franchise?
Jabuki Young-White: Ethan has so many different aspects of his personality. This is not a story about coming out or accepting your sexuality. The thing is, Ethan can be himself and the people around him support him. And I think it’s great. It does not matter in what medium, but especially in the field of animation.
Kwai, what Disney animated film has influenced you the most?
Quy Nguyen: It was very clear to me The Lion King. I thought I was too old for animation, but after watching this movie, I changed my mind. The movie is amazing and very inspiring.
Gabriel, what was the Disney movie for you?
Gabrielle Union: Probably The beauty and the Beast. This movie had a big impact on my dating choices in the 90s.
Don, why does a dog have three legs? Where did this idea come from?
Don Hall: The idea to include a dog in the story was Bernie Mattinson (The Lion King, Aladdin). At first I said that we have Splat as an assistant, and therefore we do not need a dog. But the film crew was so excited about the idea of a dog that they talked me into doing it. And Lissa TreimanDestroy it Ralph, Big hero 6) then drew the first sketch. The dog already had three legs. And so it remained.

Jake, would you rather be a farmer or an explorer?
Jake Gyllenhaal: I did have experience as a farmer. Some of my friends are farmers. Although I also love adventure, I love to cook. And if I had to choose now, I would rather be a farmer, because then I could cook for myself what I would grow.
Strange world opens November 24 in Swiss cinemas.
