Euskaraz irakurri: Sebastiane sariaren 25. urteurrena ospatuko dute Zinemaldian

From Krampack (Cesc Gay, 2000) a 20,000 species of bees (Estibaliz Urresola, 2023), Gehitu, the association of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, trans and intersexuals of the Basque Country, has already awarded 24 Sebastiane Awards at the San Sebastián International Film Festival to recognize the film that best reflects “the realities, freedoms and progress of homosexual, bisexual, trans, intersexual, queer and asexual people.”

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the award, a special screening of 120 beats per minute (120 Beats Per Minute), winner of the Sebastiane Award in 2017, will be on Sunday 22nd at the Cines Príncipe (6:15 pm). The screening will be attended by its director, Robin Campillo, and its star, Nahuel Pérez Biscayart.

Throughout its history, the award has recognized portraits of the situation of sexual freedoms in countries such as Sri Lanka, Venezuela, Algeria or Belgium and also, for example, the second film by Jon Garaño and Jose Mari Goenaga, 80 egunean (2010).

In this edition, there are fourteen films nominated for the 2024 Sebastiane Award: two in New Directors: Bagger Drama and Where silence passes; five in Horizontes Latinos (City; Countryside; The Jockey; More people die on Sundays; Ramon and Ramon; and Reas); three in Zabaltegi-Tabakalera (I Saw The Tv Glow, Big shadow and My Hero Academia); one in Perlak (Emilia Perez); and three in Made in Spain (Norberta; Old Pride; and Laugh, Sing, Maybe Cry).

The jury will be made up of members of Gehitu and actors Eneko Sagardoy and Anna Castillo, and the award-winning film will be revealed at Bidasoa Taproom on Friday 27th at 7:00 p.m.

Sebastiane Latino for “Baby”

In addition to the main prize, in 2013 Gehitu decided to dedicate a specific award to Latin American films, the Sebastiane Latino, which in its first eleven editions has recognized the work of filmmakers such as Sebastián Lelio, Jayro Bustamante and Clarisa Navas. This year, the film that won the Sebastiane Latino Award is BabyBrazilian production, directed by Marcelo Caetano.
