The 14th season, which has grown the catalog of films to an impressive 138 titles, is under the motto “Global Impact”. All nine shortlisted films aroused international interest in one way or another. Since the Swiss folk hero is allowed William Tell of course it didn’t disappear. A thoughtful adaptation of the famous 1960s story, screenplayed by Max Frisch, is now available in better quality.

You can also take pictures of Switzerland on Berezina or the Last Days of Switzerland – although very angry and exaggerated. In a satire directed by Daniel Schmid and bestselling author Martin Suter, a call girl drives men crazy until all of Switzerland is turned upside down. In particular, the last 25 minutes are among the funniest in the history of Swiss cinema.

Filmmaker and animal rights activist Mark M. Rissi takes a much more serious look De Grotsepur to Switzerland. In his 1975 drama, a simple farmer (Shaggy Streuli) allows himself to be drawn into mass animal husbandry and thus falls more and more into a downward spiral. Switzerland only voted in favor of the factory livestock initiative in September 2022, so the topic is still very relevant. FROM De Grotsepur Rissi had already brought the subject to public attention in the 1970s, so in 1978 Switzerland passed the first animal welfare law. A film worth watching, which has not lost its power even after 47 years.

The internationally successful adaptation of Dürrenmatt is also part of the new season. It happened in broad daylight with Heinz Rühmann and Gert “gold fingers” Fröbe, fascinating documentation Substance: LSD by Albert Hofmanninternational award-winning adult drama Small room Stephanie Shua and Véronique Raymond, road movie musicians candy mountain starring classy character actor Kevin J. O’Connor (Deep rise, Mommy) in a rare starring role, jazz documentary Return to Gori such as The Short Life of José Antonio Gutierrez about the first American casualty of the war in Iraq.

All films can now be streamed on established VoD platforms blue TV+, AppleTV, Sky, Cinefile, eyelet, filmingo, Daily Movies, myfilm.ch, Google Play, Microsoft Movies and YouTube under the “filmo” label.
