In the sequel to his 2019 documentary How to break into the elite, Amol Rajan returns to this theme in his new two-part series. In between attending a high school in East London where students are encouraged to apply for high school scholarships at expensive private schools, Rajan meets two graduates, Chris and Adnan. A Hull native, Chris thinks he has the wrong accent to make a career as a civil servant, while Adnan, the son of a London hotel receptionist, prepares for an interview at Lloyd’s of London. It still seems that retained pronunciation is the key to career advancement, and Rajan is also investigating accent distortion within the law.
