As always, the Swiss film retrospective takes place in January. If you want to see the highly anticipated films, you need to head to Solothurn because there is no virtual offer.
From the 642 films presented, a team led by Niccolo Castelli, the new Artistic Director of the Solothurn Film Festival, has put together a program of 217 films, all of which will be screened in Solothurn cinemas from 18 to 25 January 2023. Strong feature films, documentary reflections on the war and the issue of generations are the focus of eight days.
Prize Soler
Of course, selected films can also win something. Like every year, the Prix de Soleure will be awarded at the Solothurn Film Festival, for which seven films will compete in 2023. The following films have been nominated:
- big little women
- Damn
- Dignity DNA
- Earth inside
- Such a hope
- Trained to See – Three Women and War
- Until the branches bend
Public Prize
But, as always, the audience in Solothurn can also have its say. Because at the Prix du Public, the participants of the festival decide who will receive the Audience Choice Award. The Selection Committee nominated the following four feature films and documentaries for this award:
- forgotten man
- Amin – Hero on probation
- I am Giacometti
- Jill
- Just charity
- Travel to Eilat
- Mies van der Roes
- Vous n’êtes pas Ivan Gallatin
Opera Prima
In addition, the “Opera Prima” is also awarded, which is awarded for the best debut in a feature film. Next to shown in Cannes El Agua and famous in Toronto fudre also mixes drama reduit s, which we hailed as one of the most anticipated films of the year.
- El Agua
- fudre
- peripheral love
- Polish prayers
- reduit
- sappers
- Theory of change
The 58th Solothurn Film Festival will take place from 18 to 25 January 2023. As announced at the press conference, the organizers will not offer films virtually. After two pandemic-limited editions, the festival returns as a purely in-person event. OutNow will travel to Solothurn again in January and talk about films.
The entire program, all seasons and tickets (from December 14) are available on the official website.
