What’s On TV Tonight: Freudian Detective Series ‘Viennese Blood’ Returns With Season 3

Pick of the Day: Vienna Blood

Return sherlock-how (or sherlock-lite, some say) a historical detective drama set in 19th-century Vienna. The year is 1908, when the third series begins, and the young physician Max Lieberman (Matthew Beard) is now a recognized expert on Freud, with a published book and a growing reputation. Needless to say, his unofficial crime-fighting partner, the gruff detective Oscar (Jürgen Maurer), will soon turn to him for advice on a mysterious case. A young seamstress from a luxury fashion house is murdered, and when Oscar is suspected of blackmail, Max ponders the nature of beauty and sex drive.
