Euskaraz irakurri: Elkar argitaletxeari Gipuzkoako Urrezko Domina eman diote
The Elkar publishing group has been distinguished this Friday with the Gold Medal of Gipuzkoa by the general deputy, Markel Olanowho has opted during the event for collaboration between institutions and social agents to generate “transformative” initiatives for the benefit of the Basque language.
The representatives of Elkar have received this distinction as a collective recognition of the “tireless work carried out in the dissemination of the Basque language and Basque culture” in an event directed by the bertsolari Oihana Iguaran and in which the singer Eñaut Elorrieta He has performed several songs.
The president of the Elkar Foundation, Jose Maria Sorsand the director of this organization Mikel Esnal have been in charge of collecting the Gold Medal of Gipuzkoa, after which the latter has recalled how Elkar began his journey in the 1970s as a result of “concern to seek ways of relief for the Basque culture that lived at that time in a situation of agony”.
The laudatio of the Gold Medal was given by the president of the Basque Studies Society (Eusko Ikaskuntza), Ana Urkizawho has praised the “entrepreneurial character” of the people who have been guides of the Elkar Group.
