Pick of the day: Interview with Louis Theroux…Pete Doherty
Like in a movie Pete Doherty: A Stranger in My Skin In the theatrical release, Louis Theroux visits the Libertines frontman in the quiet Norman town where he now lives with his French girlfriend Katie de Vidas and their two-month-old daughter Billie-Mae. Now plump and middle-aged, Doherty talks about his former heroin and crack addictions, his criminal convictions and his role in the tabloids. Theroux also asks about actor Marc Blanco, whose mysterious death in 2006 at a party attended by Doherty was the subject of a recent documentary, before he returned to the UK to attend a Libertines concert.

Protocol. Marcus Wareing then challenges the duo to make poached pineapple with sabayon.
Secrets of the aquarium
A new series set behind the scenes at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth, where diving with sharks, cuddling fish, transporting turtles and keeping octopuses are all part of the daily grind. During this introductory visit, new boss Marcus attempts a dangerous operation against a misbehaving shark, while security guard Andrew builds a lair for a reclusive lobster.

It’s baking week, Matty is still suffering from impostor syndrome, Dan insists on adding an Asian twist to everything, Tash is still impressing the judges with her bread baking skills, and Christy is enjoying watching Paul Hollywood’s tutorial videos. The technical round involves baking a chocolate caterpillar cake, and the highlight is (to quote Alison Hammond) “an incredible, not-at-all beige buffet.”

Michael comes to Malaga for August’s Feria, one of Spain’s largest street festivals, and meets a group, most of whose members are named Portillo. It then travels to the mountain town of Ronda, stopping at a vineyard along the way and ending at a 16th-century monastery.

This insightful reality show features a more interesting mix of celebrities locked up with ex-cons than usual. The story continues with actor Tom Rosenthal, who smuggles a bag of tobacco and is not received very warmly by his cellmate. Meanwhile, pop star and influencer HRVY is invited to take part in a prayer session with other Muslim prisoners.
