What’s on TV tonight: Traitors is back for more lies and murder

Pick of the Day: Traitors

As a new group of 22 strangers gather at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands in the hope of ‘fighting’ their way to £120,000, many of us will be asking ourselves that question… Now that we’ve seen how if the show works , will the participants change tactics this time? “They come here after watching the first episode, so they become suspicious faster,” said presenter Claudia Winkleman. “But they all play a brilliant game.” The series promises bigger, more “epic” missions, but those missions are the least interesting part of a reality show that thrives on paranoia and its micro-expressions.

Dig into Britain

Professor Alice Roberts will now be joined by archaeologists exploring central England’s past. Beneath the RAF Alconbury airstrips (believed to be abandoned), a Roman village full of mysteriously located artefacts was discovered, while a grave containing a gold pendant was discovered in the Anglo-Saxon cemetery at Winchester.

At the factory

In one of the episodes of his series it sounds something like this Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Gregg Wallace explores a jelly bean factory in Dublin. This factory produces 10 million colorful candies every day.

Mr Bates v Post Office

In the penultimate part of the drama, a mediation plan is drawn up to allow postal service bosses to apply for compensation, but for Martin Griffiths, a distraught father of two who committed suicide, it is too late. Meanwhile, MP James Arbuthnot (Alex Jennings) accuses the Post Office of sabotaging their plan.

Real love

“You wouldn’t let your dog suffer like that,” says David (Peter Egan), one of five old friends at the funeral of the sixth dog suffering from cancer. “If I act like this, pull me out and shoot me,” says Phil (Lindsay Duncan), a retired cop. After the next wake, the friends drunkenly conclude just that: ex-SAS soldier Ken (Clark Peters) has been tasked with carrying out a mercy killing, and Phil will use his police skills to cover it up. But soon the joke becomes reality…

The Great Rhino Raid

In 2011, regional museums and auction houses across the UK were hit by a wave of bizarre crime. Despite possessing millions of pounds worth of valuable artifacts, each raid targets only one item: rhino horn. And as supplies of rhino horn gradually dwindle, live rhinos are increasingly being targeted. The horn is touted as a miracle cure for hangovers and cancer, and is now worth more than gold. This documentary tells the story of poachers and the researchers who hunt them.

Ray at the Royal Albert Hall

The subject of a recent interview with Louis Theroux, the extremely talented and award-winning singer-songwriter, now appears in the play. Performs new arrangements of songs from his album. My 21st century bluesRay will be accompanied by the Heritage Orchestra and the Flames Community Choir.
