Make me a fool one dayA new thriller based on the book of the same name by bestselling author Harlan Coben has been released on Netflix.
It features a star-studded cast including Dame Joanna Lumley (Absolutely brilliant), Michelle Keegan (Our girl, Brass) and Adil Akhtar (Sherwood), the eight-episode series became a hit on the streaming service.
What is Fool Me Once about?
Make me a fool one day follows Maya Stern (Keegan) as she tries to come to terms with the brutal murder of her husband Joe (Richard Armitage).
But when Maya installs a nanny cam to keep an eye on her young daughter, she is shocked to see a man in her home whom she recognizes: her husband, whom she thought was dead.
Detective Sergeant Sami Kearse (Akhtar) leads the investigation into Joe’s murder while struggling with his own secrets. Meanwhile, Maya’s niece and nephew Abby and Daniel try to uncover the truth about their mother’s murder several months earlier. Are these two cases related?

Where was the movie Fool Me Once filmed?
The eight-episode drama was filmed in the north-west in 2023.
Show producer Jessica Taylor said the team behind the show avoided major milestones because the series was supposed to be set in a fictional location.
However, actual locations shown include the Catwalk Visitor Center in Manchester in the first scene and Arley Hall and Gardens in Cheshire near Northwich, which appears to be the impressive Birkett family estate known as Farmwood.
Maya’s luxurious home was filmed in a real three-storey house with a private pool in Alderley Edge in Cheshire.
Flashback to Joe’s murder was filmed in Alexandra Park in Oldham, and Stockport’s air raid shelters served as the home of hacker Corey Whistle, played by Laurie Kynaston.
And the Castlefield Viaduct is the scene of an important car chase.
“We created this world of Winhurst from the very beginning,” Ms. Taylor said. Manchester Evening News. “This is an ordinary city, but a rather rich area with luxurious houses, but we soon discover underground parts. Harlan’s book is set in New Jersey but fits the English setting very well.
“We always try to use locations we’ve never visited before, which can be difficult as Manchester is such a big part of the filming at the moment. Because we wanted to make it universal and Manchester is so unique, we didn’t go too heavy on Manchester, although it’s hard to avoid the trams!
“We want it to look epic, we want people to look and be impressed by how it looks. It looks very rich and beautiful and at the center of it all is this wonderful person, Michelle as Maya, she just sells everything and the story moves forward at a certain pace.
What did the Fool Me Once team say about the show?
Harlan Coben told Radio Times that the show had “the most shocking ending ever.”
He said: “One of the things we’ve hopefully done well for people and one of the reasons why it’s noticeable.” [I’ve previously done] To become popular, you really need to make it to the end.
“It’s kind of an emotional ending, and I think our last episode, which is also unusual, is our shortest episode. Instead of trying to blow up the ending, we decided that we would just add what we wanted to the ending.
