Pick of the day: Amanda and Alan’s work in Italy
After renovating this run-down one-euro villa in Sicily, friends Amanda Holden and Alan Carr return to renovate yet another home. It’s a 17th-century house with a medieval watchtower in northern Tuscany, where the couple don hard hats and overalls between visits to the local bar. “It’s like Miss Havisham left it behind,” Holden says, observing the decorations and crockery left behind by the previous owner. They discover that it has been vacant for 10 years, filled with damp, rotten floors and even a ghost (or at least a mysterious knocking sound). Luckily, contractor Scott is once again willing to share his expertise.
Father Brown
It harkens back to the 1950s Cotswolds and the successful daytime crime drama starring Mark Williams as a Roman Catholic priest detective. The series’ sales in more than 200 countries made the actor an unlikely international star. Anyway, the new series begins an almost self-parody of the most entertaining detective drama when a competitor is poisoned during a spinach competition.
Live broadcast of the FA Cup
Tottenham Hotspur – Burnley live at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (kick-off 20:00). The Premier League sides have met once this season, with Spurs winning 5-2 at Turf Moor in September. The last time the visitors won the FA Cup was in 1914.
I wish I could lie to you?
Does Bob Mortimer now have a rival for the candidate with the most mind-blowing stories? Fans of the current series overseer will be familiar with Lucy Beaumont’s strange stories (remember how she supposedly found a piece of alien technology in her mother’s ear?), but her claim about a male stripper falls down a rabbit hole of bizarre twists. Other guests include Mo Gilligan, Frankie Boyle (who claims to have once kept the stone as a pet) and Blue Pete Hosted by Abby Cook. Was she really arrested for the first time because of her secret surveillance? WILD on your mobile phone?

Canary Islands with Jane Macdonald
Following last night’s new series of Malta travel reports, Channel 5 continues to tone down the January gloom by sending Jane Macdonald to the Canary Islands to “discover the hidden gems each destination has to offer” (they’re no longer hidden, we might add). She starts in Tenerife, where she takes a cable car up Mount Teide, tastes the bananas there, visits the town of La Orotava and takes a day trip to the neighboring island of La Gomera.
Based on a true story
This dark comedy about a married couple (Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina) who host a true crime podcast featuring interviews with the West Side Ripper is an eye-opening lesson in what it takes to create a top-notch podcast. Be as creepy and corny as possible.
Traitors: Revealed
As a second murder victim is revealed and another traitor/believer is exiled (9pm, BBC One), Ed Gamble and his guests reflect on the day’s events. In this new companion show, we will also meet the killed/banished players.

Pick of the Day: Limitless Victory by Ant and Dec
The duo’s quiz show returns, giving contestants the chance to win the biggest cash prize in British television history with an unlimited jackpot. The biggest win in the first series was £500,000, although the mother and son duo narrowly missed out on the £1.2 million jackpot. First up are sisters and best friends Tina and Tracy.

Sunderland – Newcastle United (kick-off 12:45). All third round action takes place at the Stadium of Light, where the North East rivals meet in the first Tyne-Wear derby since 2016. Much has changed since the 1-1 draw at St James’ Park, not least of course Newcastle, who were relegated at the end of the 2015/2016 season and were taken over by the Saudi Arabian State Fund in 2021. investments. Sunderland are a little behind.
The Masked Singer
Joel Dommett hosts while six other incognito celebrities take the stage: Air Fryer takes on Bubble Tea (I’m not making this up), Owl takes on the Eiffel Tower, and Chicken Caesar takes on Piranha as panelists Rita Ora , Jonathan Ross and Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan watch and try to guess who the characters are.

Genesis: the sum of the parts
Many students form a band, but only a few of them turn into million-selling artists – which is exactly what happened with Genesis. It’s March 1969, the start of the final series, and there’s a new addition: Nonnatus House is starting a new training program for student midwives. However, one of the arrivals experiences a baptism of fire when she attends a home birth where complications put the lives of mother and baby at risk. Meanwhile, Sister Julienne (Jenny Agutter) looks after the expectant mother, who suffers from cerebral palsy.

Girls from DerrySiobhan McSweeney hosts a new series of exciting pottery competitions with judges Keith Brymer Jones and Rich Miller. In the first round, twelve potters must prepare a casserole dish, and in a surprise second challenge, they must prepare matching side dishes.
Faith
In the first crime thriller of the new series, Brenda Blethyn calls senior detective Vera Stanhope to a quiet country road where a young man is found dead after being hit by a car. Of course, upon closer examination it becomes clear that this was no accident. Vera learns that the victim is a popular market trader and goes to his trading floor to find out who he was and why anyone would want to see him dead.

The amnesia thriller continues as Elliot (Jamie Dornan) returns to the hotel to find Helen (Danielle MacDonald) missing, but Ethan (Greg Larsen) is there to help trace her path. Meanwhile, Helen must balance the danger she finds herself in with her desire to get the answers she needs.

This dark ‘rom-com’ (actually more of a sad comedy), now streaming on ITVX, brings together desperate Manchester neighbor Anna (Katherine Parkinson, better off in BBC One’s funniest series). Let’s) and Sean (Youssef Kerkour). When we meet him, he is actively suicidal and she is having a heart attack.
