Euskaraz irakurri: Kalean da Gorka Urbizuren bakarkarko lehen diskoa, “Hasiera bat”
Seven years after the publication of InfrasoinuakBerri Txarrak’s latest album, Gorka Urbizu has broken the recording silence that marked the end of his main musical project to date in 2019. Urbizu released this Monday, Blue Monday, the album “Hasiera bat”.
These are ten rich but flat songs, “naked and empty to the point of being stripped down to their minimum expression”, recorded at the Teatre de ca l’Eril (Guissona, Lleida, Catalonia), built in 1904, on an eight-track analogue table under the production of Jordi Matas and Joan Pons. Urbizu has been accompanied by Catalan musicians such as Matas himself on bass, guitar and drums (the latter only in “Sute bat”), Pons (drums in “Janela bat”, “Maitasun bat” and “Besterik ez”), Ferran Palau (drums on “Tren bat” and “Kolore bat”) and Ildefons Alonso (drums on “Toki bat”, “Teoria bat” and “Lilura bat”).
Urbizu makes, in the album’s promotional sheet, an invitation to “listen to these ten songs with the five senses”: “Stop and listen. Open those doors that only open from within. Get away from the madding crowd. Say only what is strictly necessary. Try to achieve the beauty of the simple, without fear of what may arise.”
The album can now be reserved, in two versions on vinyl or on CD, and shipments will begin again in March. In addition, the Navarrese musician will soon announce the presentation tour for “Hasiera bat.”
Along with the album, Urbizu presents the video clip for the song “Teoria bat”, directed by Alexander Cabeza Trigg. The Catalan filmmaker has dressed the song with images taken in the summer of 2023 in Lleida, during the recording of the album.
On Wednesday, January 17, starting at 7:00 p.m., Gorka Urbizu will perform in Lekunberri, with Gaztea, the first public presentation of “Hasiera bat”. The event can be followed in streaming.
