The Gutun Zuria festival of letters looks at the word “in all its manifestations”

Euskaraz irakurri: “Hitzaren adierazpen guztiei” begiratuko die Gutun Zuria letren Bilboko jaialdiak

The 2024 edition of Gutun Zuriawhich will be held from February 27 to March 2, presents as its main novelties the master classes aimed at schoolchildren, the holding of a two-day conference for publishing professionals and the extension of the festival to the whole year with a series of conversations about letters and their relationship with other forms of creation.

In addition, the festival, which this year has the motto ‘Berba dariola’, will present its award to the innovative writer of children’s and youth literature in Basque Mariasun Landa in the opening session and in the closing session the winner will be the playwright Juan Mayorga, Princess of Asturias Award for Literature 2022.

In the presentation of the contest, advisor Iván de la Nuez explained that the Gutun Zuria model is not that of a festival “with a list of names”, but “everyone who is there has something to tell.”

Thus, Gutun Zuria includes meetings about tattooing, the relationship between the body and writing; the talk show, the relationship between journalism and literature; children’s and youth literature and on the interaction between text and art, “textuality and texture.”

Among the fifty participants, in addition to the two winners, are the writers Patxi Zubizarreta, Arantxa Urretabizkaia, Marta Sanz, Rosa Montero, Gemma Ruiz Palá, Miren Agur Meabe, Hélène Vignal, Maialen Berasategi, Nerea Ibarzabal, Luis López Carrasco and the plastic artists Txomin Badiola, Sonia Rueda and Jon Mikel Euba, among others.
