Euskaraz irakurri: “The House of Bernarda Alba”, Alfredo Sanzolen begietan, Iruñean
The Navarrese playwright and stage director Alfredo Sanzol returns to the Gayarre Theater in Pamplona, directing for the first time a text by Federico García Lorca. He will do it with a contemporary staging of Bernarda Alba’s house which has sold out its tickets for the two scheduled performances, on Friday and Saturday, April 26 and 27.
In the words of Sanzol, director of the National Dramatic Center in Madrid, with the staging of The House of Bernarda Alba “what I wanted was to connect directly with the reality we live in now. I did not want to see these characters as ghosts of the past, some ghosts from 1936, who experience solved problems; otherwise I wanted to tell a story with characters, who are now in us and in our bodies, living our current problems,” he indicated.
The staging of this update of the work features fifteen actresses, among which are the Basque Goya winners Ane Gabarain and Patricia López Arnaiz as well as Ester Bellver, Eva Carrera, Lupe Elizaga, Claudia Galán, Belén Landaluce, Maite Legarrea , Inma Nieto, Sara Robisco, Isabel Rodes, Nerea Roldán, Ane Sagüés, Teresa Sarriguren and Ana Wagener.
