The Literaturia festival looks at the truth of Basque literature

Euskaraz irakurri: Literature, Basque literature in Egypt, Begira

The Guipuzcoan town of Zarautz will once again be, on May 24, 25 and 26, a showcase of literary production in Basque thanks to the festival Literaturewith an extensive program of activities that will take place in the Plaza de los Fueros, at the Modelo cinema and in the Etxezabala center.

On Friday, the writer Mari Luz Esteban will read the manifesto of this year’s edition of the festival, after which the members of Kamikaze Kolektiboa (Iraia Elias, Amancay Gaztañaga and Erika Olaizola) will premiere their play Begiraan acid comedy that will give us a glimpse of the reality that is hidden behind the stage lights.

Begira will premiere on the 24th at the Modelo cinema, where the shows will also premiere on Saturday Inuksuitby Patxi Zubizarreta and with the participation of Maddi Oihenart, Antton Valverde, Mintxo Cemillán and Malen Fernandez de Larrinoa, and the stage adaptation of the collection of poems Galbaeaby Gotzon Barandiaran.

This edition of Literaturia will serve to pay tribute to the Booktegi digital platform, and, in addition to the premieres, the festival will offer book presentations at the fair to be held in the Plaza de los Fueros, and cultural activities such as the interview, on Sunday, among Gorka Arrese and Harkaitz Cano scored by Maite Larburu.

There will also be activities for children, such as Iñaxio Tolosa’s storytelling session at the Etxezabala center.
