The new film by Catalan director Mar Coll, Hail Marystarring Laura Weissmahr and Oriol Pla and inspired by the novel Love is love (No Mothers), by the Alava writer Katixa Agirre, will participate in the Official Section of the Locarno Film Festival, which will be held between August 7 and 17 in that Swiss city.
The film, shot in Catalan, is a production by Escándalo Films and Elastica, and will hit cinema screens next autumn.
The story focuses on Maria, a young writer who, after having just become a mother, hears news about a terrible event: a French woman has drowned her ten-month-old twins in the bathtub.
Maria becomes obsessed with the infanticide and can’t stop wondering: why did she kill them?
Born in Barcelona in 1981, Mar Coll became known with her first film, Three days with the familywith which he won several awards at the Gaudí and Goya Awards, releasing his second feature film in 2013, We all want the best for her.starring Nora Navas, with which he inaugurated the Seminci in Valladolid.
