Basque language: Nino Benashvili, Wu Lang, Yoyo Liu and Maximiliano Schonfelden estreinaldiak, Zinemaldiako Zabaltegi atalean
This year, the Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section of the San Sebastian Film Festival features the world premieres of the latest works by filmmakers Nino Benashvili, Wu Lang, Yoyo Liu and Maximiliano Schonfeld.
In total, 23 titles will compete for the award given in this section: thirteen feature films – two of which came from the Ikusmira Berriak project residence -, two medium-length films and eight short films.
Mati Diop will open the section with Dahomeythe work with which she won the Golden Bear for best film at the last Berlinale. The closing ceremony will be given by Dea Kulumbegashvili with April / AprilThe Georgian director has visited the Zinemaldia several times. His debut, Beginning / Beginning (2020), won four awards: the Golden Shell for best film, the Silver Shells for best director and best actress, and the Jury Prize for best screenplay.
In between, you can also enjoy works by filmmakers such as Leos Carax, Arnaud Desplechin, Elena López Riera, Nelson Carlo de los Santos Arias and Jane Schoenbrun.
Many of the works have won awards or been programmed at festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, Locarno, Rotterdam, Sundance or Venice.
