At the start of “Santa Claus” – we chatted with Tim Allen and Elizabeth Mitchell

We’ve known Tim Allen as “Santa Claus” for a long time. Now the Santa Claus story is moving into the series, and we caught up with stars Tim Allen and Elizabeth Mitchell for a quick chat.

FROM Santas Comedian Tim Allen is back playing Santa Claus. The journey began in 1994. Santa Clauswhose success is sequels Santa Claus 2 as well as Santa Claus 3: Escape Clause entails. Now the series continues as a streaming series, and the stars Santas took a little time to chat.

Also on board were Tim Allen (playing Scott Calvin), Kal Penn (Simon Choksi), Elizabeth Mitchell (Carol Calvin), director Jason Weiner and writer Jack Burditt.

Outnow: Elizabeth, you are Santa’s wife again after a long break. What can we expect from your character?

Elizabeth Mitchell: Well, they said, “Give Carol more work,” and they did. I have a lot to do, I can play with all the actors and I am more involved. It’s beautiful and makes my mom happy too!

Out now: Tim, what motivated you to play this role again?

Tim Allen: Payment! No, of course not. Jack Burditt’s script came out great, and together with my loud mouth, we created something beautiful. We also return to the first film and show how this story could work today. It was magical and it makes sense. Now the elves are asking what exactly is going on with Santa, they haven’t done it yet. So it all makes as much sense as it can.

Out now: Tim, you have played many popular characters. What would Christmas be like if you met them all?

Tim Allen: That would be interesting because Buzz Lightyear can only talk when no one is in the room. Tim Taylor will probably pump it up a bit and give it “more power” but at the end of the day they all love their family which will probably make the event cozy and fun. Maybe Santa could help Buzz a little so he can interact with the others. Sounds like a new movie… *winks*

Out now: We asked the kids about the mood on the set, and they told a lot of jokes and all sorts of nonsense. How did you take it?

Elizabeth Mitchell: Of course, Tim (Allen) is always fun to be with. We had a great time on set, the kids are so talented and fun, the atmosphere was very festive and Christmasy. We’ve just come out of self-isolation and we’ve all come together. The parents of the children were there, it was very informal. It’s nice to be able to work like this.

Tim Allen: It was a great team at work. We worked with people we liked, I had my daughter on set and the whole production went like clockwork. We worked quickly, we did not have a long preparation, but the team was really good. However, maybe the catering could make the BBQ sauce a little spicier or omit the shrimp…

Kal Penn: Having your office at the North Pole is a joy after battling traffic in LA with all its middle fingers and everything. And in the end you are standing at the North Pole, which is great. We want to share this with people. Laughter, happiness, that’s what people need. In addition, the children were so smart that they even left the plate of cookies alone because they were splattered with paint and therefore inedible.

Jack Burditt: Then I ate it…
.
Outnow: Tim, is this a show of your farewell to this character? Or is something else to follow?

Tim Allen: Yeah, well, I turned down the episode at first too, and now we’re standing and talking about it. I view this series as a book and there may be more chapters for us to explore. There are strange doors that do not open. Characters I could interact with more. But we just didn’t have enough time to do everything we planned. We know the series, we know the characters, but what happens next needs to be discussed with the people at Disney. Who knows.
