Seven municipalities in Faro are at very high fire risk.

According to the IPMA, seven municipalities in the district of Faro pose a very high risk of fire in the countryside this Friday on a day when maximum temperatures will be high: Évora will reach 39 degrees and Beja 38 degrees.

The municipalities of Lagos, Portimão, Monchique, Silves, Loulé, San Bras de Alportel and Tavira in Faro district are at very high risk of fire.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has also placed more than 40 municipalities in the center and south of the continent (Faro, Beja, Évora, Setúbal, Lisbon, Santarém, Portalegre and Castelo Branco) at high fire risk.

According to IPMA, the risk of fire will remain high until at least Tuesday.

The fire danger defined by IPMA has five levels, from minimum to maximum.

Calculations are made based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and precipitation over the past 24 hours.

IPMA predicts cloudy skies for the mainland, with temporary increased cloudiness in the hinterland in the afternoon, with the possibility of intermittent showers and thunderstorms in mountainous areas.

Winds are also expected to be generally light to moderate, with possible fog or morning fog in places along the northern and central coasts, and a slight increase in minimum and maximum temperatures inland.

Minimum temperatures will range from 16 degrees Celsius (in Viseu, Bragança and Leiria) to 23 (in Faro and Portalegre), and maximums from 24 (in Aveiro) to 39 (in Evora).
