The mayor of Viana do Castelo said on Tuesday that he was “disrespected” by a citizen who “invited” him to leave the town hall meeting room during a period open to public interference.
“There is an interlocutor who came to three meetings of the Chamber and who does not have the opportunity to listen, as well as the mayor, who is the highest person who presides over this body. I can not do anything. Don Don’t ask me for more,” said Luis Nobre.
The socialist mayor, speaking to reporters at the end of a regular municipal meeting, said he listened to a citizen’s question for 10 minutes, and when he tried to answer it, “the citizen wouldn’t let him.”
“He mistreated me,” the mayor said, calling it a “lack of respect.”
The case concerns a furniture businessman who complains about a “one-year” “dead end” in licensing an industrial pavilion that is awaiting the conclusion of an urban survey of the area surrounding the city’s northern outlet and the Atlantic. front foreseen more than 30 years ago.

Answering a question from journalists, Luis Nobre also said that the expansion of the municipal civil protection center, an investment of more than 880 thousand euros, will be completed and “serve to protect the inhabitants of Viana” during the first quarter of 2023.
The project for the expansion of the current headquarters of the Municipality of Zapadores provides “an operations center that is technologically more advanced than the current one, an operations room for operational control and coordination meetings, accommodation for operational leaders, a conference room and an auditorium, a multifunctional emergency room and a museum center , which will contain exhibits of city sappers and volunteer firefighters.
The new building is being built on land located next to the Zapadores Fire Station in Viana do Castelo and the construction has been applied to the Operational Program for Sustainability and Resource Efficiency (POSEUR).
