The Lisbon City Council hired a company from Proença a Nova to build and install 20 shelters for stray cats in the parish of Ajuda. The contract, worth 60,975 euros plus VAT (for a total of 75 thousand euros), runs until 2025, the year when the guarantee for assistance and maintenance of shelters ends. Each concrete shelter will cost €3,750, and the specifications mention the need to provide “technical solutions to improve the thermal efficiency and humidity of the shelter.” These 20 shelters will be located in different locations in the parish of Ajuda and will join dozens of shelters for stray cats that are already scattered in other parishes of the city, such as Benfica, Areiro or Penha de France. In 2020, one of the winning projects of the city’s joint budget was the placement of 48 shelters for stray cats scattered throughout the capital.
The company Ambienti D’Interni, now hired by the municipality, is based in Proença a Nova and in recent years has signed more than 400 contracts with public organizations in various fields worth more than 29 million euros – in 2021 hired by the Lisbon City Council to remove graffiti and graffiti under a contract worth more than 1 million euros.
