A young man reported online that he refused to give up his seat on a crowded train to a pregnant woman.
An anonymous man shared his story in a now-deleted post on the Reddit forum. He began by explaining that there were “no empty seats” on the train he was traveling on when a pregnant woman “apparently looking for a seat” entered the carriage.
According to Daily mailThe young man insisted he had “every right” to remain in his seat despite other passengers urging him to help the pregnant woman. The train passenger also asked potential readers of his publication whether he treated the lady correctly, given that the other passengers around him were much older than himself.
According to the newspaper, while he was asking whether he should give up his seat, an elderly woman sitting next to him took it upon herself to decide for the young man and therefore offered to take her place to a pregnant woman.
The man is outraged that his position was offered without his permission. “This is my place, I am the one who decides,” the young man said to the elderly woman, whose words are quoted by the publication Daily mail.
“Everyone looked at me like I said something wrong, but I was furious. I am not kidding. I told her I wasn’t going to do it and she started accusing me of not respecting my elders.” , he explained.
Other passengers insisted that he give up his seat, but the young man refused to listen to them.
According to Daily mail, several comments appeared criticizing the young man’s behavior. One user even mentioned that his attitude “showed a clear lack of empathy for a person who is in serious physical condition and has done nothing wrong.”
