Government changes SRESP leadership to adopt new institutional model

Interior Minister José Luis Carneiro said this Wednesday that changes in the management of Portugal’s Integrated System of Emergency and Security Networks (SIRESP), planned for 2024, are taking place primarily at the level of a new institutional structure. model.

“All strategic objectives are guaranteed, first of all there will be a change in the institutional model,” a government official told Lusa Agency at the end of the GNA’s Beja Territorial Command Day ceremony held in Moura.

Regarding the presentation of the upcoming changes in the near future, the minister limited himself to adding that as part of this reform, “responsibilities, duties and rights will be protected and protected within the framework of responsibility” of guardianship.

“These rights, duties and obligations will be integrated within the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” he said.

According to José Luis Carneiro, this reform “will maintain all the goals set for emergency communications networks.”

“Interaction of regional communication systems with mainland systems and civil communication systems with military communication systems and increasing their energy and network reserves,” he listed.

The head of the internal administration department added that this afternoon he will meet with 15 employees of the company that manages SIRESP to explain the transition model to them.

The government will cease the activities of the company managing SIRESP in 2024, transferring responsibilities to the General Secretariat of the Ministry of the Interior.

The proposed State Budget (OE) for 2024 states that “in view of the need to adopt a new management model for the SIRESP network, the government has proceeded to close Sirep SA and integrate its allocated responsibilities and funds into the Secretariat – General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.”

In the document, the government also states that “taking into account the liquidation of Siresp SA and the integration of its functions into the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2024, corresponding funds are included in the budget of this entity.”

The mission of the public company Siresp SA is to plan, manage, maintain and modernize the SIRESP network.
