The former president of the Social Democrats, Santana López, this Sunday praised the “charismatic and decisive leader” of the PSD, Luís Montenegro, and called for unity regarding the electoral strategy and an end to differences, believing that the PS should apologize to the Portuguese.

Pedro Santana López was a surprise this Sunday at the convention of the Democratic Alliance (AD), where he arrived on the last leg of the journey and had time to speak, an intervention that received high applause and was marked by high praise for Luis Montenegro.

While acknowledging that “disagreement is part of life”, the former prime minister argued that the fundamental issue is that “when it comes time to fight political opponents”, as it does in elections, it is necessary to “put differences aside and stay in the army “next to the leader” and follow the strategy planned by him.

One of the aspects that Santana Lopez praised most was the fact that Luis Montenegro acted “like a charismatic and decisive leader” when he took a clear position and declared that he would govern the country only “if he wins the elections in legislative bodies” on March 10.

It was at this point that he compared the current president of the PSD and Sa Carneiro, emphasizing that “Luis Montenegro did not hesitate”, just like Sa Carneiro.

The question for Santana Lopez is how to ensure that the PS does not remain in power for another four years, given that the socialist rulers “have failed so much in terms of results that it is obvious that they need to be replaced.” .

“How can the Socialist Party not apologize, first of all, to the Portuguese,” he asked, criticizing the situation in which PS governments have abandoned health, education, housing or social security.
