This Thursday, the Judicial Police (PJ) confiscated half a million euros in banknotes found in the safe of a businessman linked to Pedro Calado, President of the Funchal City Council, who is under arrest.
Avelino Fariña is already in Lisbon. Pedro Calado and Custodio Correia will be flown to the continent by air force. At this moment, Mayor Pedro Calado had already arrived at the airport and had already arrived in Lisbon. Some of the Judicial Police agents will also follow this plane.
The flight, which took off from Madeira at around 13:00, has already arrived in Lisbon.
Inside the plane, the judge will also take evidence.
In addition to Pedro Calado, they were arrested as part of the mega-Operation PJ Avelino Fariña, President of the AFA Group, and Custodio Correia, Partner of the Economic Group Leader. The defendant was named Miguel Albuquerque, president of the regional government of Madeira.
At the end of the day, another plane will fly to Figo Maduro airport with the remaining judicial police units.
The case of the three arrested will be heard at the Criminal Interdiction Court (TIC) on Friday.
