WL Partners, owned by consultant Luis Bernardo, a former adviser to José Socrates and António Guterres, won 92 government contracts between September 2012 and January this year, which allowed it to raise €3.3 million, an average of €275,000 a year. This is stated in a study published by the newspaper Público. Everything is investigated by the prosecutor’s office, you know what CM.
Luis Bernardo refused to comment on the news published this Sunday, but said CM that, in his opinion, “the only fact is that over 12 years the average number of government contracts [entregues à sua empresa] gives a cost of 275 thousand euros per year.” WL Partners’ revenue “comes more than 90% from the private sector,” he said.
According to Público, the largest financial volume received from the work of Luis Bernardo’s company, 2.4 million euros (72.7%), comes from contracts concluded with public or government-dependent entities, as well as with local authorities related to PS. . Of this set of contracts, 43 were obtained through direct award and 30 through prior consultation without the presence of any competitor.
Confronted with this data, José Socrates’ former adviser discounted it. “Naturally, people from the PS know me on a professional level, and this could lead to an increase in demand for structures associated with the party. Often I don’t even know the clients; contacts are established by my team,” said Luis Bernardo.
